Welcome to the DME Install site
This site is designed to assist you in downloading and installing DME 3.0 and up. The site helps you in the following areas:
- It provides the
with all general information about the installation and initial configuration of the DME server. On that page, you can choose your combination of server OS, collaboration system, and database. You then get a list of steps to complete, with documentation for each step in PDF and HTML format.
- It contains link to
This page is a database of all fixes, enhancements, and new features in DME products from version 2.0 till today.By choosing a product, a "from" version, and a "to" version, you can build a cumulative list of issues that apply to the selected versions. Known issues and setup notes are included, too.To access the site you need a valid login to the DME Support system or the DME License site.
- It contains links to the Windows and Linux installers.
- It contains links to files that you may need after the installation - such as database scripts and other support files (Notes IDStorage database, Notes Unread marks database, SSL connection files, Android utility).
- It contains an overview of the DME server builds released since DME 2.0 with links to relevant release notes.
For information about DME and Excitor, the company behind DME, please visit the Excitor website.
If you are installing on a GNU/Linux distribution:
Please download the dme-install.sh file from the install directory
/install/dme-install.sh
You can use the following wget command
wget -N http://install.excitor.dk/install/dme-install.sh
And start the installer as root with the following command
sh dme-install.sh
Migrating to DME 3.6 SP1?
Please read the support announcement before upgrading.
Also make sure you read the upgrade guide!
If you are installing on MS Windows 2003/2008 Server:
You can download the entire installation as a ZIP file, unzip it, and run the installer offline. This goes for both server and connector installation. To do this, download the following installer, run it, and select which Server and/or Connector versions you want, to get the offline installation files:
Offline installer (all available versions): DME downloader
For online installation, please download the dme-install.exe file from the install directory and execute it as Administrator on the MS Windows 2003/2008 Server.
DME Server installer: dme-install.exe
DME Connector installer: dme-connector.exe
Migrating to DME 3.6 SP1?
Please read the support announcement before upgrading.
Also make sure you read the upgrade guide!
SMS modems
To use an SMS modem with DME, you need Now SMS or Now SMS Lite.
For information about SMS modems, see section 9 in the DME Installation Checklist and Documentation Map. (Remember to select Windows as DME server OS.)
Kannel for Windows
Note that running Kannel on Windows is not supported by Excitor - see System Requirements.
A Kannel package can be downloaded from this external link: http://www.ddj.co.za/kannel-for-windows
Default configuration file for the external Kannel installation, to be used with Siemens MC35i modems: kannel.conf
MS SQL Server Express
Here is a link for the MS SQL Server Express installer for testing and POCs (Proof Of Concept) only - NOT for production systems! MS SQL Express installer: MSSQL 2005 Express
Please note that a password for the DME license site is required.
MySQL database scripts are only required for Remote MySQL installations.
Caution: Do not use Notepad for editing database scripts. Use WordPad or a professional text editor to avoid end-of-line character problems. See also the Database setup section in the DME Installation Checklist for information about when to edit these files.
Creation: For first-time installations.
Upgrade: Start from your current version of DME and apply all required upgrades up until the DME version you are upgrading to.
For example, if you are running 3.5SP1 and you want to upgrade to 3.5SP7, you need to run the SP3 upgrade script first, then the SP7 upgrade script.
Also note that SP3 and SP7 upgrades are special. If you are upgrading to a version that involves an upgrade to or past SP3 or SP7, for instance when upgrading SP2 to SP6 or SP5 to SP8, then special conditions apply. See more by clicking the heading below.
Upgrading to or past 3.5 SP3 or 3.5 SP7? Click here for important upgrade procedure information that you MUST know!
To ensure a consistent database when upgrading, you need to change the database transaction timeout value after upgrading the DME server and connectors to the latest SP, and before starting the DME services again.
- Run the database upgrade script(s).
- Open the file <DME_HOME>/conf/jboss-service.xml
- Go to the section JBoss Transactions JTA
- Change the value of the TransactionTimeout parameter to 3600 seconds (one hour), and save the file.
- Open the file <DME_HOME>/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/server.xml
- Change ports 5011 and 5021 to alternate ports, for example 55011 and 55021, to prevent DME clients from connecting.
- Save the file, and start the DME server (but not the connectors).
- Let the DME server run for approx. an hour with no DME clients connecting.
- At intervals, you may check the DATABASE_VERSION and DATABASE_STRUCTURE_VERSION in the DME_System table - they need to be identical. When they are, then the database upgrade maintenance is done.
- Restart the DME Server to check that it starts up fast and without errors.
- Stop the DME server.
- Revert the changes you made to jboss-service.xml (set the TransactionTimeout parameter back to 300 seconds) and server.xml (revert to the original sync and network push ports).
- Start the DME server and verify it starts up correctly.
- Start the connectors.
The upgrade is then complete.

Database for Domino Notes encryption
If the DME connector for Domino is installed in local mode, you can enable Notes encryption on the DME devices. To do so, you need to install and sign the following Notes database on the Domino server.
Database for Domino Unread Marks
If the DME connector for Domino is installed in remote (DIIOP/Corba) mode, you must use a unread marks database. Installer and documentation included.
Files for SSL connection
This zip file contains the configuration files required to install SSL between the DME server and DME connectors. The procedure is described in the DME server installation guide (item 7 in the DME Installation Checklist and Documentation Map).
Android utility to test server certificate
We have created a small utility to help you when deploying Android clients. The utility is called HTTPS Network Test and can be used to verify that the HTTPS certificate installed on the DME server is available on the Android phone. Simply run the utility, enter the server path, and tap Test connection. A message will tell you if the connection is successful. If it is not successful, it means that DME will not work on the phone in question with the certificate currently installed on the server. For more information about Android deployment, see the Client Deployment Guide (item 14 in the DME Installation Checklist and Documentation Map).
DME AppBox support files
The files below are project files for AppBox developers.
Overview of DME Server builds and release dates
The following table shows three things:
- The correlation between service pack (SP) numbers and build numbers.
- The actual number in the sequence of releases.
- Tooltip shows date (YYYY-MM-DD) of release.
Click the links to download the release note associated with each release or go to the DME Release Notes site.
Please note that in order to obtain a username and password for the DME download site, you need to attend and pass the DME Certification Course. Contact Excitor for more information.
